About

Painting has allowed me a channel of self expression. Being able to create imagery from remembered loved landscapes and seascapes. The 'process' has always interested me. Exploring new ways and methods that express not just thoughts but emotions.

I spent my childhood in Northumberland where a lot of my painting inspiration comes from. It's a county of big skies, long Sandy beaches and heather coloured hills.

In mid life after raising my family I began my journey. Taking an access course followed by a fine art degree at KIAD in Canterbury. In addition courses in teaching and counselling followed. This has allowed me to fund my interest in art and in people.

In 2002 I joined Creative Foundation in Folkestone which had just been established. From one of their studios I worked for six months for a solo exhibition in the George House Gallery Folkestone. The show 'Sea Sense' was a success and lead to many commissions and established me as a local artist.

Feeling encouraged by my success I worked towards another solo show and started to teach small watercolour art classes in my studio. Eventually , I moved into a purpose built studio in my home.

In 2015 I opened a gallery in Hythe which I ran for five years selling my work, doing commissions and teaching on the premises.

After having Covid I decided to close the gallery to concentrate on my painting. I am looking forward to a solo exhibition locally in 2024. More details will be available later in the year.
